Good nutrition is beginning to be commonplace. A healthy diet is the key to a healthy life. The following are a few ideas to put you on the path to a healthy lifestyle.
When you take a multi-vitamin it should supplement nutrition that you are not getting, not replace it. Whole foods will help you get the proper nutrition your body requires. It is not a good idea to take more than one all-purpose multivitamin daily, unless your doctor has advised otherwise. If you take too many vitamins, you will knock your body off balance.
Cereals filled with sugar should not be in your diet for breakfast. Many of these cereals are not only high in sugar, they contain all kinds of chemicals and preservatives. Making the switch to oatmeal is an excellent source of a quick and easy breakfast that will help you to feel full longer through the day than the cold cereal.
If you dislike preparing vegetables and raw fruits, try considering buying fruit juice. Fruit juice is a good way to get essential minerals and vitamins without having to waste time in peeling, chopping or cooking. Fruit juice that does not contain processed sugar or high-fructose corn syrup will not cause tooth decay, but it’s still a good idea to use a straw, and rinse your mouth with water after drinking fruit juice. This helps protect your teeth.
A great healthy eating tip is to take time off from eating grains. If you look at our ancestors, they survived by eating meat, greens, fruits, and nuts. Grains were not introduced into peoples diets until later, because they have not been around as long as other foods we normally consume. If you cut grains out you may feel good.
Garlic is a great item to add any diet, it’s extremely healthy and can also help keep sickness away. Garlic is one of many natural antibiotics. Its applications as a flavor enhancer are innumerable. It’s a very versatile food that can stand on its own. Try roasting it and placing it on some toast!
For a fun way to teach your child proper nutrition, consider bringing your son or daughter to a local cooking class. Make sure you expose your kid to all sorts of different foods, so they can get a feel of what is out there.
Once you make the connection between nutrition and health, you can begin to change what you eat. Implement these tips into your life and take advantage of the benefits they bring.
As important as it is to start feeding proper nutrients for our physical health and fitness, we need to realize it’s just as important to check up and kick up our mental fitness to live a better and meaningful life. One of the easiest to do so is by taking the Mental Fitness Challenge (thanks to Orrin Woodward and LIFE). The pre-challenge questionnaire contains highly important questions regarding our mental strengths in different categories and what we need to work on. the challenge itself is in the form of a 90-day program consisting tracker sheets, CDs, books and very uniquely, the ability to invite others to give you something called 360 feedback where they share their honest (hopefully) observations of your strengths and weaknesses.
